Abstract:
This paper explores the transformative potential of quantum computing in strengthening India's health systems. Quantum computing, with its unparalleled computational capabilities, offers solutions to complex healthcare challenges that are beyond the reach of classical computers. The integration of quantum computing with national health programs can enhance disease surveillance, accelerate drug discovery and vaccine development, improve genomic analysis, optimize clinical trials and healthcare supply chains, and enhance remote diagnostics and mental health analysis. However, the adoption of quantum computing in healthcare is not without its complexities, including technical limitations, ethical dilemmas, and the absence of comprehensive regulatory structures. Issues such as safeguarding patient data and ensuring privacy remain significant. Addressing these concerns requires sustained research and active collaboration among scientists, medical professionals, and technology innovators. As the field advances, quantum computing holds the promise of revolutionizing healthcare by enabling earlier diagnoses, tailoring treatments to individual needs, and enhancing overall patient care outcomes. A strategic approach involving infrastructure development, capacity building, policy integration, and collaboration is crucial to effectively harness quantum computing for transformative health system strengthening in India.

Dr. Anjali Thakur is a dedicated public health professional with 5+ years of experience in government, research, and health-tech sectors. She holds an MPH from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and a BDS from HP Government Dental College. Skilled in program coordination, health systems, and stakeholder engagement, she has worked on key projects like ABDM and Kala-Azar elimination. She is currently working as a Project Coordinator with National health Authority on Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission at New Delhi.
